ACTION ALERT: Special Election in Louisiana on May 3

Support Woody JenkinsSlatecarders--

As you know, we're backing Republican Woody Jenkins in his effort to win the Special Election in Louisiana on May 3.

As reported today by Louisiana News Link, Woody has pulled 5-points ahead of his liberal tax-and-spend opponent, Don Cazayoux:

An internal poll obtained by lanewslink.com shows Republican Woody Jenkins with a 45-40 lead over Democrat Don Cazayoux. The Jenkins campaign internal tracking poll conducted by the Washington Political Group also shows a rapid increase in Don Cazayoux's negatives since the NRCC and other conservative groups began exposing Cazayoux's record on taxes.

Today, I'm asking you to join the 109 Slatecarders who have already stepped up to the plate to support Woody Jenkins. Will you join me and the rest of the Slatecard team in making an urgent donation of $100, $50 or even $25 to help send Woody to Washington? If you've already given, please consider digging deep and doing so again. Every penny counts.

Woody Jenkins is a true limited-government conservative and has been endorsed by several groups like the Club for Growth, House Conservatives Fund, National Rifle Association, and the Family Research Council among many others.

We were moved to get involved in this race after reading this blog post by Dr. Jack Wheeler of ToThePointNews.com. I'd urge you to read that post and send it to every conservative you know.

Together, we can win this seat and make a statement that we want real, positive change in Washington.

Revolution,

David All
Executive Director
Slatecard.com PAC

P.S. Our record is now 1/1 in supporting Republican candidates for office. Please help our community improve to 2/1, join us in donating at least $25 to Woody Jenkins' campaign today.

Why Woody?

by David All 17. April 2008 23:00
ACTION ALERT: Special Election in Louisiana on May 3

Support Woody JenkinsSlatecarders--

There's an important Special Election in Louisiana on May 3 and we need to help ensure a solid Republican beats a liberal, tax-and-spend Democrat.

Republican Woody Jenkins is running a tight race for the U.S. House in Louisiana's sixth Congressional district and he needs our support to win.

Why Woody?

Woody is a proven vote-getter, wrapping up the GOP nomination on April 5 with a resounding 62 percent of the vote. Further, he's an ardent supporter of Slatecard, using Slatecard to process his online donations.

This race is targeted by the national Democrats, and they'll do whatever they can to add another liberal Democrat to their majority in Congress.

Our Woody now faces off against liberal Democrat Don Cazayoux in the May 3rd Special Election.

And boy do I mean liberal. For starters, as a state Representative, Cazayoux voted to raise taxes by $211 million. The last thing we need is to let Cazayoux get a hold of the purse strings in Washington.

While the Democrat is a typical tax-and-spender, Woody is a true limited-government conservative, with a record to prove it:

  • As a former state Representative, Woody authored over $3 billion in tax cuts.
  • Woody also established a right to property in Louisiana for the first time by amending the Constitution. The amendment limits the power of the state government to take property and requires fully compensating owners for their full loss.
  • As evidence of his success in the legislature, Woody Jenkins was named "Legislator of the Year" by the National Taxpayers Union in 1977.
  • He was also named Outstanding State Legislator in America by the Eagle Forum.
  • Woody has been endorsed by the Club for Growth, House Conservatives Fund, National Rifle Association, and the Family Research Council among others.
We were moved to get involved in this race after reading this blog post by Dr. Jack Wheeler of ToThePointNews.com. I'd urge you to read that post and send it to every conservative you know.

Look, Woody needs our support now to cut through the liberals' lies and get his message out to Louisiana voters tomorrow. That's why we're asking the Slatecard community to pitch and support Woody with a $25 donation today. If you can give more, please do so.

I'm in for the first $25. I believe. Will you join me?

Together we can fight to take back our country one race at a time, and today, that fight runs straight through Louisiana.

Revolution,

David All
Executive Director
Slatecard.com PAC

P.S. Our record is now 1/1 in supporting Republican candidates for office - we helped send Bob Latta to Congress from Ohio, but sadly lost a tough fight for Jon Elrod in Indiana. Please help our community improve to 2/1, join us in donating at least $25 to Woody Jenkins' campaign today.

Supporting John McCain Starts With One

by David All 6. April 2008 19:23

On Friday, I sent out an email to Slatecarders asking them to join me in supporting John McCain.

I noted that I was going to give $25 to John McCain for the next nine months through Slatecard (and hopefully more). What that means is that I'm going to be putting in at least $225 to help ensure that a liberal Democrat doesn't take the White House.

A few people have already joined me in the effort and I'm proud to report that John McCain will be receiving over a $1,000 over the next nine months from me and the few that have already stepped up to the plate.

I'm pleased with the early response I've received through this effort and I plan on sending more emails to help garner support for McCain.

If you haven't already, I'd ask you to join us by making a $25 donation to John McCain today and make it a recurring monthly donation for the next nine months.

Remember, every effort, no matter the size, starts small. Together, we will continue to make a difference.

Dear Indiana, Vote Elrod

by David All 9. March 2008 21:21

In just a few days, Indiana voters will head to the polls for its Special Election to help elect a Congressman to fill the seat held by the late Julia Carson.

Slatecard has firmly stood behind Republican candidate Jon Elrod. We've backed Elrod when no others would because we believe in his proven track-record of winning races against all odds in heavily Democratic districts. And in a true about face which could prove the tipping point in this race, the Indianapolis Star has endorsed Elrod noting his commitment to fiscal responsibility and his strong work ethic.

At Slatecard, we believe that donations from people throughout the nation, $25 at a time, can help defeat the special interest money that Elrod's opponent has taken. And we've been successful.

Over the past two weeks, 37 Slatecarders have stepped up to send $1,730.00 to help Jon Elrod get his message out to Indiana voters. Thanks to our help, Jon is airing the following commercial to help promote his brand of independent leadership:

If you haven't yet made a contribution to Jon Elrod's campaign, I'd ask you to join our movement by donating $25 to help keep Elrod's message on the air.

Elrod has been outgunned and outmanned from day one in this election. He's fought hard to pull the race to within single digits. I believe.

While the Slatecard community's $1,730 contributions may quickly get glanced over by Washington insiders, I'd note that we're just getting started, and that we were willing to take a chance on an individual simply because he's a Republican who needed help with a good shot at winning. Elrod doesn't owe the Slatecard community a "yes" or "no" vote on legislation if he's elected.

This is the beginning of how average citizens can help change the way Washington works and operates, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Revolution.

Love Earmarks?

by David All 2. March 2008 07:15
Elrod no earmarksACTION ALERT: Special Election in 12 Days

Slatecarders--

Today, Republican candidate Jon Elrod vowed to never use earmarks.

As the Indianapolis Star reports:
Rather than funnel federal money for special projects into Indianapolis via earmarks, Elrod said he would beef up the congressional seat's district office with experts on grant writing and other areas to help his constituents apply for federal grants. The difference, he said, is that grants are awarded on a competitive basis with objective criteria. Earmarks, he said, are awarded more based on a representative's clout.

"Once we do that, the harder it is to hide things and the more transparency there is in bills and what they are supposed to do," he said.

"Those are the kind of structural reforms that we need in Congress. Those aren't the type of things that get people fired up," he said. "But they do want fiscal reform."
On the other hand, liberal Democratic candidate Andre Carson loves earmarks. In fact, earlier this week, the Indy Star reported that Carson's biggest supporter is Majority PAC -- a leadership PAC run by pork-addict Jack Murtha. Murtha chipped in $5,000 for Carson!

It's time to change Washington. We need more candidates that support fiscal reform and less candidates like Jack Murtha.

So far, 35 Slatecarders have sent $1,695 to Jon Elrod's campaign. Will you join us in helping defeat a liberal Democrat in a seat we can win by donating at least $25?

Polling Looks Good for Elrod

by David All 29. February 2008 20:27
ACTION ALERT: Special Election in 13 Days

Slatecarders--

We've just obtained the following polling memo that shows that Republican Jon Elrod could win the Special Election on March 11 if he has the resources to get his message out.

SURVEY SHOWS ELROD IN STRONG POSITION TO CAPTURE 7th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SEAT

•    Elrod trails by just 7% on the initial ballot.
•    Among those aware of both candidates, Elrod and Carson run even.
•    Elrod also has solid support among Republicans.
•    Elrod leads by 9% on the informed ballot (45%-36%) once voters find out a little bit more about both candidates.
•    Voters are less likely to vote for Carson when told of his lack of experience, his refusal to investigate the ethics of former City Council President Monroe Gray, and his endorsement by Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan.
•    Voters are more likely to vote for Jon Elrod when told he will fight for seniors, veterans and to simplify the tax code.
•    50% of these voters are very or somewhat concerned about their Congressional seat being handed down from one generation to another.
•    Elrod’s hard name ID (favorable rating plus unfavorable rating) is just 39% at this time.  With additional media and mail this will increase significantly which will increase his ballot position.
•    Elrod’s favorable to unfavorable ratio is nearly 4 to 1 while Carson’s is less than 2 to 1.

American Viewpoint conducted a survey of 400 voters likely to vote in the March 11th Special Election in Indiana’s 7th Congressional District.  The interviews were conducted by telephone on February 10 and 11, 2008.  The margin of error for this study is plus or minus 5%.

With our help, Elrod will win. Already 29 Slatecarders have sent $1,170 to Jon Elrod's underdog campaign. Let's double that.

Today, we are hopeful that you will join us in this people-powered effort by giving $25 to Jon Elrod.

If Elrod wins, it'll be the biggest upset in 2008. Please join our effort by contributing $25 to Jon Elrod's campaign.

Elrod v. The Machine

by David All 27. February 2008 18:42
ACTION ALERT: Special Election in 16 Days

Slatecarders--

Last week, we announced our support for Republican Jon Elrod because of his tireless work ethic and because of his proven track record of winning tough races in Democratic districts.

We're off to a great start. Already, 22 Slatecarders have sent $795 to Elrod's under-funded campaign.

Today, we're hopeful that you will join us in this people-powered effort by giving $25 to Jon Elrod.

The Indy Star posted an interesting profile on Republican Jon Elrod and Democrat Andre Carson this past weekend. Both are squaring off for the Special Election to replace the late Rep. Julie Carson on March 11.

The Indy Star compares the two on how they came to political office -- and it's clear to me that Jon Elrod has always overcome obstacles by being a hard-worker while untested Andre Carson is merely the candidate of the liberal machine who is vulnerable:
Carson: Carson has yet to face voters in a contested race. When City-County Councilman Patrice Abduallah resigned last year, Carson emerged from a caucus of precinct captains as the choice to fill the seat on an interim basis. He ran unopposed in November. After his grandmother's death, he was the first-ballot choice of county precinct committee chairs.

Elrod: Elrod won his first two elected offices in upsets in districts heavily favoring Democrats. In 2004, he won a seat on the Center Township Advisory Board by 35 votes. Then in 2006 he defeated Democratic incumbent Ed Mahern by eight votes to win a seat in the Indiana House. His secret, particularly in the House race, seems to be hard work. In that campaign he knocked on 6,000 doors.
If Elrod wins, it'll be the biggest upset in 2008. Please join our effort by contributing $25 to Jon Elrod's campaign.

Indiana Underdog Needs Our Help

by David All 23. February 2008 14:35
ACTION ALERT: Special Election in Indiana on March 11
 Donate to Jon Elrod today!
There's a great opportunity to pick-up a Congressional seat in a blue district in Hoosier Country but the Republican candidate urgently needs resources to get his message out.

Today we are asking you to join us in contributing $25 to Jon Elrod's campaign.

The Congressional seat, Indiana's 7th, favors Democrats by a few points on paper but the Republican candidate, Jon Elrod, as reported by the Indianapolis Star, is known for his reputation "as a hard worker with a track record of winning elections in districts that favors Democrats."

Here are the top five reasons we could win this seat:

1.  Republicans have nominated a good candidate in State Representative Jon Elrod.  To our knowledge, he was the only Republican State Representative to defeat an incumbent Democrat in the Midwest during the disastrous 2006 cycle.

2.  Indianapolis is seeing a Republican surge.  Little-known Republican Greg Ballard defeated Democrat Mayor Peterson in the 2007 Election, despite being outspent 11 to 1.

3.  The Dems are divided and Republicans are fired up for a win. The caucus to select a candidate for the special election was contentious. Democrats selected Julia Carson's grandson, Andre, by just a few votes. Several opponents are challenging Carson to be the party’s nominee for the general election.  One of them, State Representative David Orentlicher, has raised nearly $200,000 already for the effort.

4.  The race is close.  A Democratic poll shows that despite running in a solid blue district, Carson is in a statistical tie with Elrod: "With a margin of error rate of plus or minus 4.9%, Carson edges Elrod by only three points, 41-38%"

5.  Even the DCCC has recognized Carson is highly vulnerable. They designated this 20% Kerry district as part of their Red to Blue Program and are pumping thousands of dollars in to the race.

For these reasons, Jon Elrod can win. Let's send this underdog to Washington. Please join us in contributing $25 to Jon Elrod's campaign.

Revolution,

David All
Executive Director
Slatecard.com PAC

P.S. The last time the Slatecard community backed a candidate, Bob Latta, we helped push him over the top and he's now a member of Congress. Let's make our record 2-0 and prove to Washington that the people-powered movement can make a difference. Join us in donating $25 to Jon Elrod's campaign today.

Help send Slatecard to CPAC

by David All 15. December 2007 21:12
Help send Slatecard to CPACWe need your help to spread the word about Slatecard to thousands of conservatives.

Read on...

As you may know, February 7-9 is the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC.

CPAC is one of the largest gatherings of conservatives in the nation. In fact, here's what some have said about it:

“… A showcase of the heart and soul of American conservatism”
– Los Angeles Times

“… Unmatched in both the numbers it draws and the quality of speakers who appear”
– The Politico

“ The nation’s premier gathering of conservatives… a key event for conservative candidates ever since the first gathering was held in 1974.”
– NewsMax

Slatecard has a unique opportunity to attend CPAC and host a booth in Exhibition Hall where thousands of conservatives will be finding out about all the latest new tools that are helping push-and-pull the movement forward. If you plan on attending CPAC, please stop by our booth!

To attend CPAC, we need to raise at least $2,500 to pay for our booth, produce handouts, and set-up laptops so that conservatives can register their Slatecard on-the-spot!

We have even made a special button for this fundraiser that will show up in our Ticker if you choose to assign it after your contribution which will help us earmark your contribution:

It gets better...

The best news is that CPAC wants to help Slatecard spread its message to the movement. They have told us that if we can get our registration fees in by Friday, December 21, they will run a 30-second commercial (that we produce) between speakers throughout the entire event! (I promise you will be the first to see the video.)

Staying true to our mission, this is a team effort. If you are willing to contribute to this cause, we will list your name as a Slatecard Booster on the literature that we distribute to every conservative activist that we see!

And if you are willing to contribute $500 or more (your previous contributions to our PAC will count toward this objective), we will list you as a Pillar of the Slatecard Community. Remember, the maximum contribution is $5,000.00 and is not tax-deductible.

Having raised $85,962.51 for Republican candidates and committees from 700 contributors, we know that we're heading in the Right direction.

It's time to spread the word.

Please make a generous contribution today to help send Slatecard to CPAC and keep this operation moving forward. We will make you proud. Promise.

We can do it, folks. We can give the Democrats a serious run for their money. But we can't do it alone.

I'm asking for your help because we need it.
