About Me

Sandy Treadwell served as New York Secretary of State from 1995-2001, leading the reorganization and revitalization of the state’s oldest agency.

In 2001, Treadwell was elected Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee. He served as Chairman until November 2004 when he was elected to represent the Empire State as a member of the Republican National Committee.
In 2006, Sandy Treadwell led the effort to form the Lake Placid Regional Winter Sports Committee and was elected its President.

A former reporter for Sports Illustrated and avid runner, Treadwell is the author of The World of Marathons.

Sandy and his wife Libby, also a former Sports Illustrated reporter, were married in 1970. They live in the Adirondacks and have two children, Carrie and Zach, and 5 grandchildren.
