About Me

Congressman Thaddeus “Thad” McCotter represents the 11th District of Michigan, a suburban district of Detroit that includes portions of Western Oakland and Western Wayne Counties. As a 30-year resident of Livonia, Thaddeus has represented portions of the 11th District for over a decade, first as a Schoolcraft Community College Trustee, a Wayne County Commissioner, a Michigan State Senator, and now as the District's U.S. Representative. Congressman McCotter was first elected to Congress in 2002 and was elected by his colleagues in Nov. 2006 to serve as Chairman of the Republican House Policy Committee, a leadership position once held by former President Gerald Ford. Congressman McCotter also serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee (formerly the House Committee on International Relations) and the Budget Committee. Thaddeus McCotter also served as an Assistant Majority Whip and served on the Committee on Small Business during the 108th and 109th Congress.
