About Me

Mitch McConnell is the longest serving Republican Senator from Kentucky. When elected in 1984, he was the only Republican in the country to defeat a Democratic incumbent. McConnell served as Senate Majority Whip in the 108th and 109th Congresses and chaired the NRSC during the 1998 and 2000 election cycles. On November 15, 2006, he was unanimously elected Republican Leader in the 110th Congress -- only the second Senator from Kentucky in history to lead his party in the U.S. Senate. McConnell currently serves as a senior member of the Appropriations, Agriculture, and Rules Committees. He is married to United States Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao, and is the proud father of three daughters: Elly, Claire, and Porter.
