Vern Buchanan represents Florida's 13th Congressional District in the House and serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Committee on Veterans, and the Committee on Small Business.
A strong fiscal conservative, Buchanan has introduced the Balanced Budget Amendment Act to require a balanced federal budget and the Earmark Accountability and Reform Act to reform the process through which federal funds are “earmarked” for pet projects. His other legislative priorities are national security, maintaining tax relief, providing our seniors and veterans with the benefits they have earned, and protecting the environment.
Prior to being elected in 2006 in one of the nation's closest congressional contests, Buchanan was a businessman. A husband and father, Buchanan lives in Longboat Key, Florida.
