About Me
Mike Johanns grew up on his family’s dairy farm where he started doing chores at age four. He has carried that work ethic with him into public service at every level.
After serving as mayor of Nebraska’s Capital City for nearly eight years, Mike was elected Nebraska’s 38th governor in 1998. As governor, he promoted an agenda of tax relief, less government, building the economy, and protecting families. Johanns was re-elected in 2002 with 69% of the vote.
In December, 2004, Mike was nominated by the President to serve as Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
Mike, a proven, tested, and trusted conservative, is ready to put his experience to work in the U.S. Senate and fight for our values.
