About Me

Lou Barletta was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, the son of a businessman.
After graduating from Hazleton High School and attending Bloomsburg State Colleges, Lou pursued a major-league baseball career.
In 1984, Lou returned to Halzelton and founded Interstate Road Marking Corp., the largest pavement marking contractor in Pennsylvania.
In the mid-1990s, Lou won a seat on the city council as the only elected Republican on the five-member board.
In 2000, Barletta was elected mayor of Hazleton. While mayor, Barletta erased a budget shortfall and passed one of the toughest illegal immigration ordinances in the country.
Lou and his wife Mary Grace have four daughters.
