About Me
Jon Scott is taking his second run at Patrick Kennedy in Rhode Island’s First District and is running a campaign based on working class common sense and the belief that serving in federal office was never meant to be a family business or a lifetime position.
Scott is a former group home counselor who came of age politically during the Reagan revolution and advocates positions for lower taxes, smaller government, a strong national defense and the power of the individual. He believes in consumer driven health care and an educational system where parents are free to influence their children’s learning, as well as choose their school.
He is currently the RI State GOP Platform Committee Chairman, the Chairman of the Board at Ocean State Policy Research Institute; Rhode Island’s first free market think tank, and a co-founder of the state “center-right coalition” meeting. He is the father of adopted son, Chris (age 25), who lives with him in Providence.
